For Prospective Graduate Students –
Applications for Grad School at UF are due by Dec. 1 each year and
cannot be accepted out-of-cycle.
Prospective graduate students, please familiarize yourself with the application and admissions process, my lab and recent work, and the Biology dept. before asking questions about these topics. Links below:
Know before you Apply:
I am accepting prospective graduate students for the next cycle. Students should have some lab experience (Master’s not required) particularly working in a genetics, developmental biology, neurobiology, or evolutionary lab, or have some experience with molecular biology work.
Developmental Biology and Neuroscience are challenging disciplines that require a certain dedication in the face of failure, strong work ethic, and perseverance to be successful. If you have not worked in these fields before, it will be hard for me to judge if you are able to succeed in this type of work. I am open to taking students who do not have this specific experience that demonstrate strong motivation and rationale for joining this lab but you must show me this.
Our department accepts students directly to the lab of their advisor, so reaching out to me well before Dec. 1 is a must. When you contact me, send me your CV, and in the email body please tell me (briefly!) a little about your past lab experience and interests, and what makes you interested in pursuing a PhD in my lab. Especially if you do not have matching previous experience, though this is not a disqualifier automatically, you must demonstrate a strong interest and motivation for joining the lab.
