What to Expect in the McCulloch Lab

Our research interests are broad, whether you are interested in molecular evolution, genetics, genomics, development, cell physiology, neuroscience, or animal behavior, we have projects for you. Depending on funding sources, grad students and postdocs are encouraged to explore their own interests in addition to working on the lab’s main organism and system, light sensing in Nematostella.

In the McCulloch Lab, the goal is to work smart, in a dynamic but fairly laid back environment, to achieve our goals. There is zero tolerance for any disrespect, discrimination, or harassment of any kind. Mentorship is taken very seriously and tailored to trainee experience and personal preferences. I try to be present and available but not on top of trainees. I am here to make sure you succeed (whatever your goals are), secure funding, publish, and to assist you in any way I can to make your time in the lab as stress-free and fun (yes fun) as possible.

If this sounds like the right lab for you or even if you are unsure, please read ahead and contact me! Links with more specific information for trainees and guidelines on cold contacting me are below:
